Good morning, everyone, and welcome to my newest Cornell discovery. I think that this is where I will spend my mornings for the rest of the trip. Right now, I am sitting at an old study carrel, its height and angle perfect for writing, amid three tiers of open, filigree book stacks, with only one other student I can see. It’s quiet, and I am looking out over the valley, towards the opposite shore of Cayuga Lake. It’s a beautiful winter morning, with a dusting of snow on the ground, and I am in academic heaven.
