A chorus of foghorns.

Our summery day has set with the sun, and faded into a foggy fall evening. Outside, crickets chirp, and a chorus of foghorns intones intermittently, a note here, another there, occasionally overlapping, then diverging again, a pair of sine waves chasing each other across the harbor, tracing patterns in my head.
