The calm after.

The government and the Smithsonian are open, the Metro restored service yesterday afternoon, our power has remained uninterrupted at home, and I am back in the office bright and early after an unexpectedly long “weekend.” It’s Halloween but doesn’t quite feel like it. Tomorrow I will turn the page on my calendar and move from a photo of the marvelous fall color of one of the maples by the TEIA to one of the back shore waters before a storm. Hopefully the worst of the season’s storms are now past.

  1. We miss Maine in the fall too, but usually we closed up after Columbus Day weekend. It’s perhaps the best time of year on the island.
